Third Story Addition

San Francisco

Adding a story in the Bay Area can be challenging, but we like nothing better than meeting a challenge!  We started with a two story house on Potrero Hill - basically a flat-roofed stucco box with a few Mission Style features tacked on.  A new master suite was constructed in the third story addition.  Hipped copper roofs and exposed rafters transformed the character of the house.  The greatest challenge in this project was to provide new stairs to the 3rd floor. Using 3D CAD made it possible to examine every detail from every point of view to be sure it all would fit together as imagined.  Light from the south-facing property line windows floods into the formerly dark hallway through the open stair design.
